Unilorin Praised for Transparency in NELFUND Implementation
Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Bosun George Oladele, has commended the University of Ilorin management led by Prof Wahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN for its transparency in implementing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (Nelfund).
Hon Bosun Oladele while speaking on Unilorin FM radio's popular Yoruba program "Oro to n lo," anchored by Mr. Idris Alooma, praised the university for publicly announcing that Nelfund payments have been made to the university's account.
Hon. Bosun Oladele who was former House of Representatives' member representing Irepo, Oorelope and Olorunsogo , emphasized that this level of transparency is commendable, especially compared to other tertiary institutions in Nigeria that still charge students fees without clear disclosure.
He noted that Nelfund is a significant relief for both parents and students, helping to curb crimes, cyber bullying, and improve the quality of education.
According to Hon. Bosun Oladele, quality education is key to reducing crime rates and building a better Nigeria.
Hon Oladele a former Commissioner for Information in Oyo state and a lawyer also commended the Supreme Court's judgment extending the Freedom of Information Act to all state governments, promoting open governance and transparency.
Hon. Oladele lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision to remove fuel subsidies, citing the positive impact on governance and the economy. He emphasized the importance of unity and teamwork in moving the nation forward.
