Unilorin Appoints 6 New Professors, 17 Readers

 



The management of University of Ilorin has announced the promotion of 6 senior academics to professorial rank, while 17 others became Readers. Their elevation was confirmed at the 187th Meeting of Council, held recently at the Ikogosi Resort, Ekiti State.

The Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Mansur Alfanla, fciml, commended the new professors on their exceptional achievements in teaching, research, and community service, noting that the six scholars had excelled in these areas.

The promotion exercise saw two new professors emerge from the Faculty of Agriculture. They are, Prof. Sijuade A. Adebayo from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, and Prof. Kevin Eifedeyi from the Department of Agronomy.  The Faculty of Arts produced Prof. Caleb Ogunkunle from the Department of Religions.

Also promoted were Prof. Abdulkarim Oloyede of the Department of Telecommunication Science, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, and Prof. Adeola T. Kola-Mustapha from the Department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

From the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. Gbojubola Awolola of the Department of Industrial Chemistry was promoted. Those elevated to the Readership position are Dr Khadijat B. Amolegbe, Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management; Dr Abimbola K. Arise, Department of Home Economics and Food Science; Dr A. O. Fahm, Department of Religions; Dr M.A. Bojuwoye, Department of Medicine; and Dr N. A. Balogun, Department of Information Technology.

Also elevated to Readers are Dr M.O. Oloyede, Department of Information Technology; Dr Felicia K. Oluwalola, Department of Educational Management; Dr Memunat T. Ajadi, Department of Human Kinetics; Dr T.D. Akpenpuun, Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering; Dr M. M. Odewole, Department of Food Engineering; and Dr D. O. Adetitun, Department of Microbiology.

Others are Dr A.K Ajijolakewu, Department of Microbiology; Dr Muinat O. Kazeem, Department of Microbiology; Dr D.A. Animasaun, Department of Plant Biology; Dr I.I.Aun, Department of Business Administration; Dr J.U. Abubakar, Department of Mathematics; and Dr T. O. Lawal, Department of Physics.
