Revolutionizing Healthcare: Ex-National President Calls for Community Health Workers' Recruitment in Kwara State
In a move to enhance healthcare delivery in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Oladipo Bolaji, a former National President of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria has advocated for the recruitment of Community Health workers in kwara State. He emphasized the crucial role these workers play in providing primary healthcare, reducing the burden on secondary and tertiary hospitals, and serving rural areas.
Alhaji Bolaji commended Governor Abdulrasaq AbdulRahman's efforts in the health sector and beyond, acknowledging the governor's giant strides in various sectors. He highlighted the importance of Community Health workers, who are the closest to the public and provide essential healthcare services.
The former National President expressed concern about the brain drain in the health sector, with medical doctors and other health workers traveling abroad, leaving a gap in healthcare delivery. He noted that Community Health workers, being grassroots-based practitioners, are not involved in this trend and deserve more recognition for their vital contributions.
Alhaji Bolaji observed that the demand for Community Health workers is increasing, with more people interested in studying community health due to its importance and usefulness. He emphasized that these workers are in high demand, yet often overlooked, and urged the federal government to recognize their value through employment, incentives, and constitutional backing.
In the renewed hope agenda, Alhaji Bolaji expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's plans to revamp the community health sector and give more recognition to Community Health workers. He called on state and local governments to assist the president in this endeavor, ensuring better healthcare outcomes for Nigerians.
Alhaji Bolaji, a distinguished member of the community health sector, who has served on the Board, Board of Trustees, and currently a member of the Elders Forum of Community Health Workers in Nigeria, expressed his gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon him. He also appreciated the opportunity to continually leverage his vast experience for the benefit of the sector.
