Qatar 2022 FIFA WC: SOME NOTABLE FIFA WORLD CUP RECORDS TO KEEP IN VIEW!

Qatar 2022 FIFA WC: SOME NOTABLE FIFA  WORLD CUP RECORDS TO KEEP IN VIEW!

How Many of These Records Can be Equalled or Broken in Qatar 2022?

Cristiano Ronaldo with his goal against Ghana in this current World Cup edition now has the record of the only player to have scored in five different World Cup editions. The great Pele of Brazil and Uwe Seeler of Western Germany originally held the record of the players to have scored in four different World Cup editions having scored consecutively in Sweden '58, Chile '62, England '66, and Mexico '70. They were later joined in this league by Miroslav Klose, Cristiano Ronaldo, and recently Lionel Andreas Messi Cuccittini. Now the great Cristiano Ronaldo has set the bar higher by scoring in the fifth World Cup edition.

Only five players have played at least one match in five different world cup editions, namely, Lothar Matheus, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Rafael Marques (Mexico), and Antonio Carvajal (Mexico).

However Lothar Matheus (Germany) still holds the record for most World Cup caps with 25 World Cup appearances. Lionel Messi clearly has this record in sight in this current World Cup if Argentina should advance up to the semi-final with him featuring in all the matches up to that stage. Lionel Messi has so far mustered a total of 20 World Cup caps. Let's see how it goes.

Miroslav Klose (Germany) still holds the record for the most World Cup goals (16 goals). Ronaldo de Lima previously held that record with 15 World Cup goals (having broken the previous record of 14 World Cup goals held by Gerd Muller "Der Bomber"). This Ronaldo de Lima record was broken by Klose in Brazil's 2014 edition. The closest person to that record in this current World Cup edition is Thomas Muller (Germany) with 10 World Cup goals. Cristiano Ronaldo has 8 World Cup goals and is the same as Lionel Messi with 8 World Cup goals. Is there any chance any of these guys can equal or break that record here? This seems unlikely but keep a close eye on Thomas Muller should Germany continue to advance.

Just Fontaine (France) still holds the record for most goals in a single World Cup edition with 13 goals scored in Sweden '58. That record is still far-fetched for any player for foreseeable decades now. Runners-up here are Sandor Kocsis (Hungary) with his 11 goals in Switzerland '54 the Gerd Muller with his 10 goals in Mexico '70.

Oleg Salenko of Russia holds the record for the highest number of goals scored in a single World Cup match and that was in the USA '94 match between Russia and Cameroun where Russia defeated Cameroun by 6-1 with Salenko scoring 5 of the goals. Who can attempt this record again?

Only three players in history have won what I have termed the "Triad of the World Cup", that is, the highest goal scorer (Golden Boot), the Most Valuable Player (Golden B, all), and the World Cup trophy itself altogether, in the same World Cup edition and they are, Garrincha (Brazil) in Chile '62, Mario Kempes (Argentina) in Argentina '78 and Paulo Rossi (Italy) in Espana '82. Can we be a repetition in this edition? Is it possible?

Only Pele of Brazil has the record of the player with the most World Cup trophies with three trophies won in Sweden '58, Chile '62 Mexico '70 editions. No player in this current World Cup has won it twice not to talk of preparing for the third and so this record stays intact!

The great Pele still holds the record of the youngest player to have scored in a World Cup match when he scored for Brazil against Sweden in Sweden '58 at the age of 17 years 249 days. No player in this current World Cup edition is as young as that and so that record stays.

The oldest player to have scored in a World Cup match is Roger Miller (Cameroun) when he scored for Cameroun against Russia in USA '94 at the age of 42 years 39 days. Incidentally, as pointed out above, this was the same match where Oleg Salenko of Russia set the World Cup record of five goals in a single match as Russia defeated Cameroun 6-1 in the same match with Roger Milla scoring the only goal for Cameroun. So this historic match is noted for setting two outstanding World Cup records. No player in this current World Cup is as old as that and so that record stays.

The oldest player to have played in a World Cup match is the Egyptian goal-keeper Essam El-Hadary, a record he set at Russia 2018 when he kept for Egypt against Saudi Arabia at the age of 45 years 161 days. No player in this current World Cup is as old as that and so the record stays.

Norman Whiteside of Northern Ireland is the youngest player to have played in a World Cup match when he played for Northern Ireland against Yugoslavia in Espana '82 at the age of 17 years 40 days. No one is as young as this in this present World Cup and so that record stays

Brazil holds the record for most participation in World Cup editions having participated in all the editions from 1930 to date (the only country to do so) with Qatar 2022 making it Brazil's 22nd participation in a World Cup. It must be noted that Germany equally qualified for all World Cup finals sites since its inception in 1934, but voluntarily opted out of the 1950 finals since it came at the heels of the end of World War 2 suchun provokededly caused.

Brazil and Germany on the 25/11/2022 morning jointly hold the World Cup record of 110 matches with b of now guaranteed to reach 112 matches with their final group matches. Which among them do you believe will overtake the other in the knockout phase??

Before Qatar 2022, Brazil has the record of the country with the most World Cup goals with 229 goals against Germany's 226 goals. So far of this morning, with the addition of goals in Qatar 2022, Brazil now has 231 goals with Germany at 227 goals.

Brazil still holds the record of the country that has won the most World Cup trophies (five trophies) with Germany and Italy jointly on four trophies apiece. With Italy not participating in this World Cup, a Brazilian triumph in this World Cup will mean an extension of this record, while a German triumph will mean the equaling of the record.

How does it finally end in Qatar for these two most successful football nations, like Germany and Brazil? The answer is, no one knows!

Generally watch out to see many of these records that can equaled or broken in this World Cup edition

Enjoy the games!
