The Publisher of Kwara People magazine and Convener of END loop VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN PROJECT (EVAMP), Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli (AKA Mr. Nigeria), has revealed the text of the lecture delivered by the Commander 22 Armoured Brigade, Brig. General A. A. BABALOLA,(N/10320) DSS CM RNS NAPH psc(+) mni, at the 1st Annual Emir of Ilorin VAPP Law Awareness Lecture, organized by Kwara People magazine in commemoration of the Emir's 27th Anniversary if his Turbaning Ceremony, shall be published into a VAPP-EVAMP HAND BOOK (Series 1).
Hon. Alli, a former TIC Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government and an advocate of Equity, Fairness, and Justice, disclosed this during a Courtesy Visit to the Director of Programs of Kwara State Television, Apata Yakuba, Alh. AbdulRazaq Laro Yusuf, where he sought the station's continuous partnership in sensitizing the society on the campaign to END VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN through program publicity support.
Alli disclosed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration has domesticated the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP ACT) into law in Kwara state since 2020, through the promotional support/ sponsorship of the First Lady, Ambassador (Dr). OLUFOLAKE AbdulRazaq, the emphasis has still been on Violence Against Women and Girls without any consideration on how to end violence against the male gender because they don't believe it exists or they believe the statistics ratio of male victims is low compared with their female counterparts.
Alli, said his experience as a victim of domestic violence, has encouraged him to establish this campaign to further liberate other men in his shoes and encourage them to speak out rather than continue to suffer in silence.
He said further that, the END VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN PROJECT (EVAMP), was formally launched on 11 November 2022, as part of activities marking the 27th Turbaning Anniversary of the Emir of Ilorin, HRH. Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, who was represented by a delegation led by the Mogaji Ile Iya Oba, with the Guest Speaker, Brig. Gen. AA BABALOLA's lecture titled: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ABUSE AGAINST MEN; THE MAL GENDER IMPERATIVES: STOPPING THE STIGMA BY ENCOURAGING REPORTS RATHER THAN SUFFERING IN SILENCE, read on his behalf by Captain R.O. Okhuene, of the Command's Legal Department. The occasion was as well witnessed by Alhaja Balogun, the representative of The Attorney General of Kwara State/ Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Senior Suleiman and the Special Adviser, Civic Engagement to Kwara State Governor, Hon. Abdulsalam Atiku, the Director of Child Welfare at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajia Yusuf, and her deputy, Hajia Alabi, among others.
Alli, who is leading a campaign for Equity, Justice, and Fairness in the Senatorial Politics of Kwara Central under the aegis of the Concerned Ilorin West Local Government Stakeholders In Kwara Central Senatorial District said that the END VIOLENCE AGINST MEN CAMPAIGN PROJECT (EVAMP) is non-political and calls on all well-meaning people to support its growth. He thanked the management of Kwara TV for the age-long support and sought more publicity through relevant programs on the station. He said the VAPP-EVAMP Hand Book shall be published every month and that of the Brigade Commander will be the first to be published in the series.
In his response, the Director Program of KWARA TV, Alh. AbdulRazaq Laro Yusuf commended the initiative of leading a force to encourage thousands of male victims of Domestic Violence to start speaking out rather than suffering in silence. He promised that KWARA TV will continue to support the project which is for the betterment of humanity. He promised to convey the message to the Station's General Manager and Management as a whole and convey a more convenient time to bring the campaign down to the doorsteps of the station for all-inclusive participation. With him at the visit was the station's Manager of Programs, Mr. Moshood Arowolo, amongst others.
