The Congress of National Open University of Nigeria Students held their annual elective congress yesterday, Saturday 30th July 2022 in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital to elect new leaders that will pilot the affairs of the congress for the next twelve months.


The election however went well and peacefully under the watchful eyes of various security agencies in attendance to ensure peaceful conduct while the congress last.


Com. Abolore Rukayat Busari emerged as the new president and will take from Com. Asangansi Bright.


The convention was well attended by the students of various study centers and stakeholders from Akwa-Ibom Lagos, Kwara, Kano States, and FCT.


In his speech after the election, the outgoing president, Com. Asangansi Bright Joe appreciated the electoral and congress planning committee for a job well delivered without a hitch. He also thanked all his co-executives for their support in the last twelve months of their leadership of CoNS.


Com. Asangansi who also read out his achievements thanked all the stakeholders who made his tenure a success through their support in various forms. 


Com. Asangansi however urged the new leaders to be magnanimous in victory, operate an open door policy, carry everybody along in their dealing and be transparent with their decision makings.
