CoNS Congress: Com. Abolore Rukayat Emerges New President

Following the elective congress of the Congress of National Open University of Nigeria Students (CoNS) that took place in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Saturday, 30th July 2022, a biology 400-level student of Ilorin study center, Abolore Rukayat Busari has emerged as the new national president of the student's group having defeated her main challenger in the polls, Com. Uthman Abdulyekeen with wide merging.


The Congress participants also elected Com. Karim Shakiru Olatunde as the new national public relations officer (PRO) of the student's body. 


Com. Abolore Rukayat will be the first female to be elected as the CoNS president since its inception and will take over the mantle of leadership of the congress from Com. Asangansi Bright and pilot the affairs of the union for the next one year.


In her acceptance speech, Com. Rukayat appreciated the students for entrusting her with their mandates and allowing her to serve them and promise never to disappoint them by fighting for their cause at all times.

Indeed, the tides and waves of a journey are what make the destination a celebrated harvest.


First of all, It is with utmost gratitude and great sense of responsibility that I commence in the name of Almighty God, the Alpha, and Omega, the Exalted and Magnificent, the Omniscient and Omnipotent, the Great Grand Architect of the Universe, the Master of Destiny, the One who created the sky without any pillar, I extolled His glory for allowing me to be elected as the President, Congress of NOUN Students (CoNS) 


My profound gratitude also goes to all NOUN Students who without equivocation have been my pillar and backbone since inception,


In the same vein, I want to equally appreciate and express my profound gratitude to my Parents for providing the platform for the actualization of this dream and for providing moral and financial support towards this victory, It could have been a mirage.

 

In line with this, let me sharply use this opportunity to salute the wisdom of all and sundry who in one way or the other contributed to my attaining this magnificent success. I would like to register special gratitude to my campaign team for their hard work and strong determination. 


A special appreciation also goes to my friends, colleagues, and senior comrades in the struggle for their indefatigable support, constant advice, tenacity, persistence, consistency, and sincere prayers during my campaign. Your names are too numerous to mention within the scope of time and space thus I prefer to mention you in the tablet of my heart.



A vote of thanks also goes to the Electoral body for conducting free and fair elections in the interest of all NOUN students.


The greatest journeys in life begin with the smallest steps and these smallest steps start with a dream, a dream for a prosperous future, a dream for an outstanding purpose, a dream for excellence, and above all a dream for a better CoNS and a brighter tomorrow.


I promise myself and other National Elected officers will not fail you as you have bestowed your trust in us by electing us. I pray when you need one man/woman thousands upon thousands will stand for you all.

Kwara United GM Badawiy Banned for Two Years from Lagos Stadia

The Lagos State Football Association board has swiftly acted to address a blemish on the otherwise impeccable organization of the 2025 President Federation Cup finals, which took place last Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos. During the highly charged final match between Abakaliki FC and Kwara United, it was observed that the General Manager of the victorious Kwara United, Mr. Bashir Badawiy, violated the stringent security measures in place.
