Suspected Aspirant's Thugs Disrupt APC Primary in Owode/Onire Constituency of Asa LG

Thugs and miscreants suspected to be supporters of one of the aspirants to the Kwara State House of Assembly on Thursday disrupted the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary election for the Owode/Onire Constituency of Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.


The election which was at the point of starting with all aspirants and their supporters and delegates ready to cast their votes was chased away from the election ground by the thugs who were shouting and hailing one of the aspirants contesting the said primary. Aspirants and delegates run for their lives as the thugs were shooting sporadically into the air thereby making electoral officers disappear from the ground and look for safety somewhere.


Recounting her ordeal at the venue, one of the aspirants and the youngest among them, Shittu Rukayat Motunrayo stated that she was at the Alapa, the venue of the election in Asa LGA of Kwara State,,,, and the atmosphere was cool and calm as they await delegates and coordinators before invaders scattered everything mediately the coordinators arrived the venue.


She speaks further, as an aspirant under the ruling All Progressive Congress, I was at Alapa in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State today for the APC primary election for all aspirants contesting the Owode/Onire constituency seat at the Kwara State House of Assembly in the 2023 general elections.


While the atmosphere was cool and calm as we awaits delegates and other coordinators for the exercise, and as soon as they arrived with immediate action to commence the primary election, a group of thugs shouting of one the aspirant name disrupted the peaceful atmosphere with gunshots everywhere while people run helter-skelter for their lives.


The primary election did not hold as we all disperse to a safe place.


I urge every party faithful to see the primary election as a family affair and be at peace with each other.


Also, I implore the party leadership to do the needful to correct the misrepresentation and set up modalities for electing a responsible Owode/Onire candidate for the APC.


Lastly, again I enjoin the general public to disregard information announcing any aspirant as a candidate for now.

The Lagos State Football Association board has swiftly acted to address a blemish on the otherwise impeccable organization of the 2025 President Federation Cup finals, which took place last Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
