Okumagba, Kwara Government Inaugurates Supporters Club

History was made in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Friday as a partnership between the national body of the Super Eagles Supporters Club and the Kwara State Government yielded fruit with the birth of a Football Supporters Club in Kwara, the first of its kind. 


The Super Eagles Supporters Club, a local initiative by Prince Vincent Okumagba has now gone global following his recognition as the number one football fan leader in Nigeria by FIFA, a feat which has led to a robust partnership with the Kwara State Government, the next destination for Sports in Nigeria. 


The historic event, held at the conference room of the Kwara State Sports Commission witnessed the birthing of the Super Eagles Supporters Club, Kwara State branch in the presence of the crème de la crème

 of sports administration in the state led by the Kwara State Sports Commission Chairman, Mallam Bolakale Mogaji.


Activities started 24 hours prior with the Kwara State Deputy Governor, Hon Kayode Alabi hosting the Super Eagles Supporters Club leadership before leading the entourage to the number 1 indigene of the state, his Excellency, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Governor of Kwara State.


The newly formed Super Eagles Supporters Club, Kwara State Branch, is now to be led by a philanthropist and football enthusiast, Engr Olabunmi Komolafe Dickalo while the Chairman, women football development committee of the Kwara Football Association, Hajia Segilola Alaya will pilot the club affairs as the 1st Vice Chairman. Proprietor of Gidado football club, Alhaji Salihu Babatunde Afase is the 2nd vice-chairman while an astute football administrator, Yomi Benson Olatunbosun will serve as the Secretary and ace photo Journalist, Abdul Momoh will serve as a liaison officer.


The Kwara State Government only a few days ago inaugurated the state Sports Commission board with plans in place to renovate the Ilorin and Offa stadiums to international standard to play host to the different cadres of the Nigeria national team in the immediate future.


The Super Eagles Supporters Club is now officially a strategic partner of the Kwara State Government going forward.
