Nasarawa United's hopes of picking their first away win of the current campaign once again suffered a devasting setback as they lost 2-0 to Kano Pillars at the hosts' temporary Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday seventeetiesie.


Pillars, nicknamed Sai Masu Gida, opened the d scoring as early as in the 1st minute through Mark Daniel after he was freed up by Rabiu Ali.


Bashir Usman nearly put Uniteonin on the score sheet when he was teed up by Uche Ihuarulam but the winger's low drive was parried into the corner kick they goalkeeper, Joshua Enaholo.


The hosts went on to dominate play, and they got their second goal before half-time. Some poor defensive decisions saw Ifeanyi Eze poking home a rebound after goalkeeper, Danlami Umar had parried David Ebuka's shot in the 40th minute.


United's fate was compounded as s right-back, Abubakar Abdullahi was pulled off after picking up a leg injury and was subsequently replaced by debutant, Afeez Bankole.


The Solid Miners seemed to weather the storm upon resumption and thought they had reduced the deficit only for Alaekwe Chijioke's goal to be ruled offside in the 53rd minute.


The introduction of fresh legs saw the visitors pressing harder. Substitute, Shammasu Mohammed was denied by finger tip of Joshua Enaholo.

Shortly after that, the young sensation meandered through the traffic with some beautiful pieces of skills, only for his shot to go inches wide.


In their pursuit to alter the scoreline,  United came under threat,  substitute, Kokoette Udoh, forced goalkeeper, Danlami Umar to an acrobatic save before following that up with a bullet shot that struck the side-netting.


2-0 was the full-time score in favour of the hosts as United continue to search for their first away win of the season.


Despite the outcome of the game, the Solid Miners remain in the n 11th position with 21 points, and will retire home for a date with bottom-placed MFM FC of Lagos who lost 1-2 at home to Kwara United, on Sunday.
