Former ABS star Kadiri Aminu has recorded his name in the history books by winning First Bank Lagos Open Golf Championship.

Doing so, the former Kwara United and Nasarawa United midfielder is now Nigeria’s number 1 Amateur golfer in ranking which is an incredible record.

The First Bank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship is a World ranked competition that attracts the best golfers from the Amateur cadres – and not only in Nigeria, but across Africa and the world.

Participating in this competition helps golfers to rise in the WAGR rankings.

After getting injured last year November, Kadiri Aminu decided to return to golf even though he started playing the game when he was 14 before he turned to a professional footballer.

Aminu is under the Ilorin Golf Club and they have the highest winner in the First Bank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship who is Late John Ajiboye nicknamed as Kokoloji.

John Ajiboye of blessed memory won the trophy in 1969, 1972, 1973, 1975, and 1979 for Kwara and no Kwaran has been able to win it since he won it last – 42 years ago.

Aminu Kadiri has now restored the lost glory for Kwarans and the Ilorin Golf Club by emerging as new champion on Sunday, November 21.

All the golfers at the Ilorin Golf Club are in joyous mood and they are all praising Aminu Kadiri for this latest mighty achievement.
