Stakeholders and Players Praise Monimichelle Over Mobolaji Johnson Arena

Stakeholders have commended the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, formerly Onikan Stadium billed to host the Aisha Buhari Cup.

Nigeria and Mali took to the pitch to perfect their strategies ahead of Wednesday's opening game.

Among dignitaries at the stadium to see the Hybrid Synthetic Pitch laid by Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Ltd was Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who also took time off to ensure the arena is fit for a championship of this magnitude.

The LOC disclosed that FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, FIFA Secretary, Fatma Samoura, and other world football personalities would attend today’s opening ceremony.

Also expected at the opening ceremony are top government officials, including Governor Sanwo-Olu, Mrs. Sanwo-Olu, Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, NFF President and FIFA Council Member, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, members of the diplomatic corps, top officials of the Lagos State government, NFF board, members, captains of industry and leading stakeholders of the game in Nigeria.

The six teams in the competition arrived in the country at the weekend, except South Africa that came in yesterday.

"This is a well laid pitch and I want to commend Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Ltd for giving Lagos and Nigeria a turf we should all be well-laid," a top official revealed to the Media on Tuesday.

"This pitch is fantastic. My plea is that it should be maintained. The Lagos State Government must go into a solid arrangement with Monimichelle on its year-round maintenance. The deal they have must not end with the construction. Maintenance is key," a top official informed the Media on Tuesday.

"I must give kudos to Monimichelle for doing a good job. This is a positive development for indigenous firms. Ordinarily, nobody would give a Nigerian firm this kind of job. For Monimichelle to have delivered this way, I say kudos and more power to his elbow."

One of the players who trained on the pitch said, "I enjoyed playing here. Nice pitch, good job by Monimichelle. My message to the company and her Chief Executive Officer Ebi Egbe is to keep it up."
