An Akwa United Player Must Never be Scared - Etim Matthew


Defender Etim Matthew believes that leaders Akwa United are the favourites going into the Nigeria Professional Football League match with Adamawa United on Saturday.


The Promise Keepers host Adamawa United at the Nest of Champions and the Nigeria international insists that his men should be considered the team to beat.


“Favourites to win the game? Us. It's hard to pick a favourite in a game, but playing at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, we're favourites because we're at home,” he said.


“We've already shown how to beat the best in the league. We have to be ourselves and fight, sweat blood and tears, give our all.


“We have to play our game. They have talented players, but we're fearless.


“We aren't scared of them. We've already beaten in Gombe. An Akwa United player must never be scared.


“The gaffer works and studies all the details. Kennedy Boboye speaks from his heart and knows how to get the best out of his players.

The Lagos State Football Association board has swiftly acted to address a blemish on the otherwise impeccable organization of the 2025 President Federation Cup finals, which took place last Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos. During the highly charged final match between Abakaliki FC and Kwara United, it was observed that the General Manager of the victorious Kwara United, Mr. Bashir Badawiy, violated the stringent security measures in place. He made reckless attempts to run and celebrate in front of the five state governors seated in the VVIP section of the stadium, thereby jeopardizing their safety as well as that of other prominent dignitaries and industry leaders present.
