  School Sports Foundation Osun Governor's Cup| Quarter-Finals Takes Shape As Ede Grammar School, Ansar-Udeen Grammar School, Ejigbo Others Qualify. Eight teams have successfully secured their places in the Quarter-Finals of the ongoing School Sports Foundation Osun Governor's Cup after some nail-biting last preliminary round of games.  Oyeniran Peter scored twice, to help Ataoja School of Science Osogbo, defeat Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo 4-2, picking the quarter-finals slot from the Osogbo Conference, while Modakeke Islamic Grammar School, lost narrowly, after losing 1-0 against Ife Anglican Grammar School. Stakeholders Commend Organisers of Jagaban Cup

  By Akeem Busari  It is a few weeks until the kick-off of the second edition of the annual Jagaban Football Cup, organized by 36 Lion Investment Limited, and football stakeholders and enthusiasts of the game, have been salivating about the expected thrills and feels during the tournament.  Speaking on the tournament, Coach Dominic Etim of Akwa Ibom-based Stars Football Academy, said he is eagerly looking forward to the tournament, which would feature eight of the best grassroots football teams in Lagos State.  "I witnessed the first edition and it was pure excitement for all football enthusiasts. CAFCC: CAF Appoints Libyan Referee for APC Do Lobito vs Rivers United Clash

  The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has appointed Mr Abdulrazg Ahmed from Libya as the Referee for the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup Group C matchday 5 tie between Academica Petroleos Clube do Lobito(Angola) and Rivers United FC(Nigeria). The "Os Estudantes" will host the "Pride of Nigeria" on Sunday, February 25 at the Luanda-Estadio 11 de November. Kickoff time is 5 pm (local time) and 5 pm (Nigeria time). He will be assisted by compatriots Attia M Essa Amsaaed (Assistant Referee 1) and Alayat Mohammed Munji (Assistant Referee 2), while Elmabrouk Muhammad will serve as the fourth official.   Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on Monday hosted Super Eagles' goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke in Lokoja to make the state proud at the just concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Ivory Coast. Olorunleke was one of the goalkeepers who represented Nigeria at the tournament where they settled for a Silver medal haven lost 2-1 in the final to the host nation, Ivory Coast. Olorunleke who hails from Bunu in Kabba-Bunu LGA of Kogi State was received by Governor Ododo along with two other Kogites in the Super Eagles; Mr. Achor Enebi who's the Team Manager and Mr. Adejoh Francis Musa who is the Chief Security Officer of the team.  The Kogi Governor congratulated the trio for making history with the team and hoisted the flag of the state higher at the tournament.  He pronounced the donation of a plot of land in the state capital just as he made undisclosed cash donations to the trio with an assurance to support them in their future activities. ...

Teams Jostle for Honours at the Second Jagaban Cup

  The 2nd edition of the Jagaban Cup powered by 36 Lion Investment, Diamond Sports Management Limited, IFMM and Lagos Enigma Group will be held March 26-29, 2024.  The tournament will host European scouts at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos for 3 days. Eight teams would feature to showcase their skills to foreign scouts with their eye on being invited to Europe for trials. The previous tournament which took place in Lagos was very successful with scouts from Belgium, Turkey, Slovakia, Azerbaijan and the  Czech Republic in attendance. The outcome was the invitation of several players to trials abroad and the signing of deals. Sochi wing-back Solomon Agbalaka played in the first edition of the tournament. WBFN to Select League Officials from the Workshop in Ilorin

  Ahead of the proposed wheelchair basketball league, successful officials at the National Workshop will be selected, according to the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of Nigeria. The Secretary General of WBFN, Aminu Sikiru disclosed the arrival of officials for the National Technical Workshop which will commence on Tuesday, (February 20th) at the indoor sports hall of Kwara State Sports Complex in Ilorin. Sikiru revealed that the technicalities of the game will be handled by the Technical Director of WBFN, Tunde Popoola. He said, “The national workshop has a lot of benefits and one of them is to upgrade some of our officials.
